Abstract:
The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship between some factors and smoking behavior among male students in Hatyai Technical College. The 713 technical students were selected by the stratified random sampling method. Data collected through a structured written questionnaires, Descriptive statistics : Paired Sample t-test, Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Coefficients and Chi-square were applied to analyse the data. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : The peer influence revealed to be a factor most influenced smoking behavior, Other factors include participating in the social events with peer, the smoking trial, the family problem such as divorce, or sharing a house with friened or staying in the dormitory. There was no relationship between knowledge and smoking behavior. However, attitude showed a statistical significant relationship with smoking behavior. In addition, the monthly allowance supported by parents and their experience in smoking trial also showed statistically significant relationship with smoking.
